Reading a day
Huginn shows one day at a time: the places you stayed, the trips between them, and a map of the stops.
Stays and trips
A stay is a place you were for a while, with when you arrived and left. A trip is how you got from one stay to the next: on foot, running, by bike, by car, by train, bus, tram or ferry, or in the air.
Huginn decides how you travelled from your phone’s motion history: whichever way covers most of the trip wins, and standing at a red light doesn’t count. Anything faster than 250 km/h in a straight line is a flight.
The day you’re in runs on to now. While you’re moving it ends in a trip in progress; a few minutes after you stop, it shows where you are as a stay.
A stay that crosses midnight is cut at the day’s edge, and that end reads overnight. A day you never left reads All day.
Distances
On foot, the distance is what your phone’s pedometer counted. Otherwise it’s the length of the path Huginn recorded while you moved. When it has neither, it leaves the distance out rather than guess a straight line that would be too short.
Places and their names
A stay you haven’t named yet shows a suggestion in lighter type: Home or Work once Huginn has seen your routine for a while, or what Apple says is at that spot. A suggestion is a guess, especially in a busy street; it becomes the name when you name the place.
The map
Above the day, a map shows its stops as numbered pins, in order. If you come back to a place, its pin carries both numbers, “1 · 5”. Tap a pin to see that stay.
